Mothers that just keep feeling pulled towards an unschooling or more natural learning approach. You watch your peers doing the absolute most to drill education into their kids’ brains but you just know there’s a more harmonious and aligned way for kids to learn. (Not to mention an approach that doesn’t feel so draining and taxing on parents…spoiler alert: your gut is right!)
You feel like unschooling IS the way but you’re still anxious about your kids’ future. You spend way too much time worrying about your 8-year-old reading fluently or knowing easy math equations…cuz if they don’t know them by now- and if you don’t enforce them learning those things – what will happen when they’re grown and not able to function in the real world?!?!!? You just don’t want to fail them. You want them to be well-equipped. (Don’t worry any more than you already are – unschoolers across the globe have self-directed their way to some of the most complicated skills AND I’m not a radical unschooler, so collaboration is what we’re aiming for here, NOT child being the absolute authority!)
You’ve been unschooling for a while -and love it - but something in the back of your mind is causing you to doubt whether or not it’s actually working (Are they actually learning anything? Am I just a lazy parent? What if I’ve been wrong for years?)
Self-directed homeschooling parents who feel regularly overwhelmed and confused. You want to let them have a voice in what they’re learning and influence over how your days go but when you do, you feel out of control and lost in the mix. How are you supposed to keep track of everything? Keep them on track and hold that delicate balance between letting them be in the flow and holding them accountable to following through? How do you communicate to your partner what they’ve been learning?
Eclectic homeschoolers looking to let go of control more often. If you don’t identify as an unschooler but you feel like your homeschool routine could use more wonder, more spontaneity, more inspiration…then incorporating some unschooling principles could be exactly what your family needs to start a new chapter that’s less rigid/pressured/tiring (and just not fun) and more soulful and free-spirited.
